Antonio Rossi elected president of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation: "Forward in the spirit of continuity."

Lecco, September 13, 2025 – Antonio Rossi has been elected president of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation for the four-year period 2025-2028.

The election was held today in the Fencing Hall of the Foro Italico, home of the Extraordinary National Elective Assembly. Rossi, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and former deputy vice president of FICK and sole candidate, received 96.17% of the vote, equal to 3,587 preferences.

"Thank you for your trust," said the athlete, originally from Lecco. "Let's move forward for our movement and for canoeing. The key will be continuity, but with some necessary changes compared to the past. There's no need to overturn anything, but we need a federal council that's present locally, close to the sports clubs."

And I continued: "The first points to address? The bylaw reform and the facilities that need to be advanced. I've met with the teams recently, and there's a desire to grow and gain greater visibility. As for marketing, we had a great return on our visibility at the Canoe Speed ​​and Paracanoe World Championships: I think that's the path we need to work on. There's a lot to do, but there's great enthusiasm , and I know I have President Buonfiglio at my side, who, with his experience and his new role, will be able to lend us a huge helping hand."

The meeting opened with the awarding of the title of honorary president of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation to the current CONI president.

Following the election of the president, the election of the new Federal Council also took place, which will be composed of Paolo Tommasini (232 preferences), Enrico Rossi (187), Epifanio Daniele Insabella (179), Gian Marco Patta (167), Adriana Gnocchi (157), Maurizio Carollo (154) and Stefania Cicali (122); Carlo Tacchini (109 preferences) and Irene Burgo (90) were elected to represent the athletes, while Paolo Pani was elected to represent the technicians (109 preferences).
